A new addition to the trip program for the 24/25 season, Lagangarbh Cottage stands out as one of the most iconic huts in Scotland. Located right in front of Buachaille Etive Mor, it’s perfect for walkers, climbers and ski-tourers!

A dozen IBSC members arrived just after Christmas, seeking a break from the hectic festivities in the remote setting. We were all pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodation that even featured a shower!

The weather was not on our side, with constant rain over the entire weekend. With not a patch of snow in sight we set off on various adventures ranging from munro bagging to biking on the West Highland Way and running up the Devil’s staircase. With lower winds than forecast and high air temperatures, this was more bareable than expected. Maybe even enjoyable?!

After braving the elements, we rewarded ourselves with dinner, drinks and dancing at the Clachaig. It’s rare to have a club trip so close to a pub so we took full advantage of the situation, taking a break from our normal routine of a self-catered dinner. The band, Box of Bananas, provided lots of entertainment with their impressive range of tunes from reels to Jungle Book numbers!

With the weather further deteriorating on Sunday, we enjoyed a leisurely morning in the cottage before heading off for Hogmanay. We all look forward to visiting the hut again in the future and hopefully one day there might even be snow there!
