Beinn Ghobhlach2

Open day. Inverness Backcountry Snowsports Club

We plan to make an ascent of the striking mountain, Beinn Ghobhlach, which is situated on the Scoraig peninsula near Ullapool, between the two Loch Brooms.  The views from the 635m high summit are very impressive, especially given its closeness to the Hebrides, An Teallach and the Fisherfield region.

The day will give members and potential new members a chance to mingle and have fun, and also be of particular interest to anyone wishing to join the committee, someone with ideas and a vision of how the club should progress.

New Comittee Members

This season there will be a bit of flux in the committee, with some members leaving (but remaining with the club). With that in mind, the remaining committee is very keen for new talent, new drive and new ideas.

If interested come along to the open day noted above or, giving the present committee some notice, come along to our ‘pre’ pre-season opener/ preparatory session (in October) to see what we are up to, or to throw some ideas into the forthcoming programme.

A good, strong committee will benefit the whole membership and direct the club as well as being a committee member can also be a reward in itself - we look forward to new input!

New committee members do not have to be ‘Office Bearers’ - perhaps you have a special or technical skill that could add to the board’s experience – or jus help bring drive and enthusiasm

Training

Every year requests for training in winter skills or backcountry skills is a theme from the membership. Last year the club ran a 'subsidised' winter skills trip, which was very successful. The blog can be found here.

This coming season, it is hoped the weather will allow for more trips. Expressions of interest or suggestions for activities/ locations welcome. It is likely that the club will be able to offer subsidy to some or all of this season's training (where guiding is involved, for example).

Membership: End of season 2018-19 (no snow) beginning of season 2019-20 (buried in snow)

For administration purposes and data protection, :-) the club will remove all expired membership data from its system, in July. You will require to re-register when applying for membership next season.

The club would welcome your registration at the earliest opportunity from mid-July onwards.

Early registration will receive a (modest) discount and will enable the ongoing receipt of newsletters.

 Snow Joke
